BIO:

I am an Economist at the Research Division of the Bank of Spain (Banco de España) since September 2007. I obtained my Ph.D. in November 2007 at CEMFI (Centro de Estudios Monetarios y Financieros) and University of Santiago de Compostela for my dissertation Heterogeneity and Dynamics in Individual Wages and Labour Market Histories. From September to December of 2006 I was a Graduate Affiliate Research Student at the Economics Department of UCL (University College London). I joined IZA (Institute for the Study of Labor) as a Research Affiliate in August 2006. In October 2007 I have been awarded the Journal of Applied Econometrics Dissertation Prize 2007 for my paper entitled Modelling Heterogeneity and Dynamics in the Volatility of Individual Wages. For more details on my background, please see my full CV.

My main research interests are in Microeconometrics and Empirical Labour Economics. My research belongs to an emerging literature on methods of estimation of nonlinear fixed effects panel data models with reduced bias properties and its application to a dynamic conditional variance model of individual wages. More generally, I am interested in the relation between Wage Dynamics and Work Histories, as well as in the statistical properties of relevant estimation methods.

I am also member of the executive board of COSME, a subcommittee of the Spanish Economic Association founded to monitor the position of women in the economics profession and to undertake activities that improve women’s position. Among other activities, COSME celebrates the COSME Conference in the Simposio de la Asociación Española de Economía (SAEe), the annual meeting of the Spanish Economic Association.

2009 COSME Conference: SAEe, Valencia, Spain. December 11, 2009: 18.15-19:15 h.

In addition, at the SAEe 2009 there were two COSME Sessions, in which the topic of research was gender economics. The papers presented in these sessions followed the same refereeing process as all other submissions to the Simposio.

2010 COSME-FEDEA Workshop: FEDEA, Madrid, Spain. May 27 and 28, 2010.
The aim of the Workshop is to offer young researchers interested in gender economics a forum for the presentation and discussion of research papers representing current advances in the field. Cecilia García Peñalosa (Centre National de Recherche Scientifique CNRS) will give the keynote lecture in this third edition. In addition, there will be 10 papers to be presented and discussed in the two-days conference. For more details, visit:
