BIO:
I am an Economist at the Research Division of the Bank of Spain (Banco de
España) since September 2007. I obtained
my Ph.D. in November 2007 at CEMFI and University of
Santiago de Compostela. From September to December of 2006 I was a Graduate Affiliate Research
Student at UCL. I joined IZA as
a Research Affiliate in August 2006. In October 2007 I was awarded
the Journal of Applied Econometrics
Dissertation Prize for my paper entitled Modelling Heterogeneity and
Dynamics in the Volatility of Individual Wages. For more details on my background,

I am member of the executive board of COSME,
a subcommittee of the Spanish Economic Association founded to monitor the position of women in the economics profession and
to undertake activities that improve women’s position. For more information on the position of women in Spain, please see this presentation on "The Economics of Gender:

The last Simposio de la Asociación Española de Economía (SAEe), was held in Málaga (Spain) on December 15-17, 2011. The invited speaker at the 4th COSME Conference was Rachel Kranton
Since January 2011, I am also the secretary of the European Society for Population Economics (ESPE), founded in 1986 in order to facilitate communication and exchange between
researchers in different European countries, as well as with scientists from other parts of the world.
Equal emphasis is given to theoretical and applied research focusing on the role played by human capital and demographic variables in economics.
